-- Ushio (TYO:6925) will transfer its semiconductor laser device business to Kyocera (TYO:6971) through a corporate split and subsequent share sale for about 1 billion yen, according to a Tuesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The company will first carve out the business into a newly established subsidiary before transferring all shares to Kyocera, with completion targeted for April 2027.
The move comes as Ushio seeks to improve capital efficiency and optimize its portfolio amid shifting semiconductor demand and growing opportunities in areas such as AI-driven data centers and sensing applications.
