-- Tivan (ASX:TVN) said that an initial phase of independent product specification assessments confirmed that the acid-grade fluorspar product from the Speewah fluorite project in Western Australia is considered suitable for hydrofluoric acid production, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.
As part of the program, Tivan and Sumitomo met with potential end-users in March to discuss the product's technical suitability in detail and provide an update on the project.
Tivan is now progressing a "mini-pilot" program for the project at ALS Metallurgy in Western Australia to finalize process engineering and produce a second, larger batch of acid-grade fluorspar product to facilitate further sample assessment and marketing.
Its shares fell 4% in recent trading on Thursday.
