Badger Meter (BMI) shares plunged more than 23% in afternoon trading on Friday after the company's Q1 earnings and revenue fell short of analysts' consensus.
The company reported Q1 earnings Friday of $0.93 per diluted share, down from $1.30 a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $1.22.
Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $202.3 million, down from $222.2 million a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected $229.6 million.
The company said it has agreed to acquire UK-based UDlive for $100 million plus contingent payments, boosting its sewer monitoring business. The acquisition, expected to close by the end of April 2026, will be funded with cash on hand.
