-- Komehyo Holdings (TYO:2780) said March brand and fashion sales rose 43% year over year to 22.56 billion yen, supported by strong demand for watches and jewelry, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Individual purchase amounts increased 28% to 10.42 billion yen, marking the highest monthly level on record, as buying of gold, bullion and watches remained firm despite market volatility.
The company said corporate sales outpaced retail growth, helping capture demand both in Japan and overseas, with U.S. customers driving duty-free sales.
Jewelry prices stayed elevated despite some impact from softer gold prices, while watches continued to sell well across both popular and rare models. Demand for bags remained steady but trailed other categories.
