Market Chatter: Shell Plans to Begin Gas Output From Loran-Manatee in 2027, Expand Pipeline Capacity

Energy giant Shell (SHEL) plans to begin natural gas production from the Loran-Manatee offshore field, which crosses the border between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago in 2027, according to a Reuters report, citing Gerald Ramdeen, chairman of Trinidad's National Gas Company.The company is reportedly moving to accelerate gas projects in Venezuela under interim President Delcy Rodriguez's administration, particularly those tied to Trinidad's LNG and petrochemical projects.According to Ramdeen, Shell has increased its pipeline capacity, which is set to transport gas to Trinidad, from 750 million cubic feet per day to 1 billion cubic feet per day."That gas will now be brought to our Beachfield facility via a 32-inch pipeline, rather than the original 24-inch pipeline," he told Reuters.In the shared gas field, Manatee holds estimated gas reserves of 2.7 trillion cubic feet, while Loran has an estimated 7.5 Tcf, but so far, Shell hasn't taken any final investment decision on the latter.Shell did not immediately respond to' request for a comment on this story.(Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
