The CTCU consumer association is seeking redress on behalf of social media users in Italy who lost control over their personal data, in violation of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, according to the report.
The data scraping incident occurred between January 2018 and September 2019 and was disclosed by Meta in 2021, impacting about 533 million Facebook users globally, Reuters cited the court order as saying.
Meta did not immediately reply to a request for comment from.
